Not that long ago dentists were mostly relied upon for the relief of pain and the restoration of decayed teeth. Everyone dreaded a trip to the dentist. A visit was associated with pain and one frequently left the office with teeth filled with silver amalgam, the generic restoration available at the time.

Esthetics, such an integral part of our lives today, was barely at the periphery of dental concerns. There were of course, a handful of dentists who exercised  the available esthetic dental options, but these options were time consuming, expensive and unfortunately frequently unattractive.

Nonetheless, change was inevitable. Awakened to beauty by the media, the public became aware of the importance of a beautiful smile. As a dental profession, we are conscious of this growing demand and we are here to make cosmetic restoration.

Root Canal Treatment:

Root Canal Treatment is the procedure done to preserve the infected tooth. This procedure involves removing the damaged or infected pulp, treating any infection and filling the empty canals.

Crown and Bridge Treatment:

If you are faced with tooth loss, crown and bridge treatment may be the best option for you. A bridge is a custom-made device anchored to neighboring natural teeth, which replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared as crowns to hold the bridge in place. Bridges, sometimes referred to as a fixed partial denture, look natural and literally bridge the gap where one or more teeth have been. Fixed bridges appear and function similar to natural teeth and remain in the mouth at all times. They can only be removed by your dentist.

Benefits of Crown and Bridge Treatment

  • Restores lost teeth and supports remaining teeth
  • Restores and maintains your natural bite
  • Prevents undue stress on natural teeth
  • Improves your speech, smile and chewing ability
  • Helps prevent further dental decay and gum disease
  • Prevents tilting and shifting of adjacent teeth

 Tooth Whitening

Want whiter, brighter teeth? Who doesn’t? One option for you may be tooth whitening, also called bleaching. The dental clinic is the best place to seek professional advise.

Many patients have specific questions about tooth whitening. You may be concerned about it's cost, or perhaps about it's safety.

First look at yourself in a mirror. Ask yourself if you feel self-conscious when you smile and if you make attempts not to smile to hide certain aspects of your teeth. Are your teeth visible when you smile? What colour are they? Ask a friend about the colour of your teeth. Then ask yourself how often you wish you had whiter teeth. Weigh the answers to these questions before you consider whitening your teeth.

Our teeth yellow with age. Coffee, tea, cola drinks, soya sauce, cigarettes, pan, tobacco, food colouring, etc. will hasten this process. Many parents remark that the milk teeth of their child were whiter than the permanent teeth that have taken their place - how true! Permanent teeth are yellower than milk teeth, and tend to get darker with age.

It is necessary to have a healthy mouth before beginning to whiten your teeth. Bleeding gums, cavities, sensitive teeth, and other conditions must first be treated. The teeth must be cleaned and polished, to ensure that the whitening gel comes into direct contact with the teeth.

Possible side effects include increased sensitivity to cold during the treatment, tongue and lip soreness, and possibly throat irritation. These side effects always resolve in one to three days after completion or interruption of treatment.
